One of the fundamental aspects of being a skillful and successful practitioner is the art of patient care and communication. How we communicate and connect with our patients is an important aspect of patient care and health outcomes – as much as proper diagnosis or point selection. Understanding how to talk to our patients about TCM, how to gain their trust, create safety, and consent, these are all essential skills that are required for our practice. This course aims to equip students with the fundamental skills necessary for patient care. The content is designed to provide hands-on, practical knowledge, that will be invaluable in clinical practice. We will examine and practice how to talk about TCM in a simple and easeful manner, how to gather useful intake information while also being yourself, how to practice with a trauma informed approach (do no harm), and how to create safety and comfort so that your patients can get the most from their treatments.

Some exercises in this course involve physical touch. Participation is always based on informed consent; all touch is optional and consent must be clear and ongoing.
