Permaculture Design Continuing Education

Anyone who wishes to take a course without enrolling in a program is welcome to do so as a non-matriculating student, provided that course prerequisite requirements are met.

Below are Continuing Education courses for the School of Permaculture Design. 

Permaculture 101 (FCPD104)

Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, July 13-14, Jul 27-28 and Aug 10-11

9:00am-4:30pm

Instructor: Kym Chi

Prerequisites: – –    Credits: 3    Hours: 45

Join us on campus and at Tiny Tree Herb Farm, on the beautiful Saanich Peninsula, for this introductory course where you will deepen your understanding of the natural world while gaining insight into the foundations of Permaculture.

With a focus on learning natures operating system, participants will understand how to apply the principles and patterns of nature to their land, life and livelihood.  Together, on a working farm, we will explore how to observe and interact with our environments to best create long term, healthy and productive systems that care for the planet, people and future generations to come. Participants will gain practical introductory skills in mapping, designing, propagating, garden management, pest management, soil building, water management, natural building, social permaculture and more!

As part of our learning adventure, we will also take field trips to the forest, urban gardens and other Permaculture sites.

To apply learnings, participants will have an opportunity to create mini designs for personal projects of their choosing.

This course is a great fit for folks who:

  • are curious about Permaculture and want to learn more
  • are interested in creating intentional designs for their land and/ or life
  • want to take a more holistic approach to the way they live
  • are inspired to learn how to start growing their own food and medicine
  • desire to build stronger relationships with the natural world
  • hope to create positive change in their lives and communities

Permaculture for Herbalists and Nutritionists (FCPD152/WHS152/NU152)

Schedule: Wednesdays – May 8-Aug 14, 12-3:15pm

Instructor: Kym Chi

Prerequisites: – –    Credits: 3    Hours: 45

Join us for this introductory course where you will deepen your understanding of the natural world while gaining insight into the foundations of Permaculture.

With a focus on learning natures operating system, participants will understand how to apply the principles of nature to growing a garden, running a successful holistic health practice and building better relationships with your clients.

Explore how to observe and interact with the land and your life to be able to best create long term, healthy and productive systems that care for the planet, people and future generations to come.

To apply learnings, participants will have an opportunity to create both land based and life based mini designs for personal projects of their choosing.

This course is a great fit for Herbalists and Nutritionists who:

  • are interested in creating intentional designs for their land and/ or life
  • want to take an even more holistic approach to their practice
  • are inspired to learn how to start growing their own food and medicine
  • desire to build stronger relationships with the natural world
  • hope to create positive change in their lives and communities

 

Study Options

Non-matriculating students have the following registration and study options:

  • Credit-Earning: You pay full tuition and must satisfy all academic and attendance requirements to earn transcript credit.
    This is a great option for students who are interested in applying to a diploma program at PRC in the future – any credits earned as a non-matriculating student will be included on your transcript and can be applied to diploma program requirements, when applicable.
  • Audit: You pay discounted tuition and can partake in as little or as much of the course as you want. No transcript credit is awarded.
    This is a great option for students who would like to enroll for personal enrichment only and do not intend to complete a program at PRC.
