Carmen’s passion for health care began over 15 years ago. She commenced her journey studying traditional medicines from around the globe during her undergraduate program as a Davis Scholar in the United States.
There, Carmen combined course-work in the biomedical field with the study of herbal medicine practices in Mexico, France and Kenya. During this time she completed a Health and Development program in Eastern Africa with the School for International Training.
This wide exposure to a variety of approaches to health and wellness encouraged her to combine conventional medical approaches with ancient forms of healing. She completed a 5-year Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Pacific Rim College, in Victoria, with over 3,000 hours of course-work and clinical practice. Her final TCM residency was in northern China at the Liaoning Teaching Hospital.
Upon completion of her Doctorate, Carmen pursued a Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver as part of the Northern and Rural Cohort.
Carmen now practices both as a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and a Registered Physiotherapist.
