Ryan Hilperts

Ryan Hilperts is committed to the art of transformational education. She guides processes of individual, group, and community discovery through workshops in facilitation, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, visioning, and living with purpose. She designs her work using ecological systems as inspiration and guides. 

Ryan directs the Redfish School of Change, a field school dedicated to fostering a community of leaders working for sustainability and justice on both sides of the international border in the Salish Sea. In addition to teaching courses on farms, in the wilderness, and by kayak, Ryan also works in classroom settings.  She is an assistant teaching lecturer and field school coordinator in the School of Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria.  Her academic research focuses on the ways that communities can engage in meaningful ways with the natural world through ecological restoration.

Ryan co-facilitates a weekly Sacred Ecology group based on the work of Joanna Macy, is a songwriter and singer and an avid chef.
