Community Healthcare

The Student Clinic at Pacific Rim College provides more than 7000 annual treatments to the general public in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Holistic Nutrition. More than half of the treatments are provided free of charge, and our Community Acupuncture clinic provides treatments by donation 6-9 hours each week.

WellPlan is unique wellness plan designed to keep you and your family healthy through the regular use of non-toxic, sustainable therapies. Patients enrolled in WellPlan are entitled to unlimited treatments in the Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and Herbal clinics for only $1.30/day.

As an extension of our Student Clinic, PRC provides clinical services within the community at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre weekly health consultations at no charge and dispenses by donation herbal tinctures, teas and capsules. Having been in existence for over 40 years, VNFC provides services to an estimated 15,000 Aboriginal people living off reserve in the greater Victoria area.

Student Support Programs

PRC’s innovative scholarship program Your Best Interest (YBI) is a pay-it-forward type of initiative in which the interest fees that students incur and pay as a result of delayed tuition payment are converted into a scholarship fund that is available to all diploma students. To increase the fund, PRC matches all contributions dollar for dollar.

Events

Pacific Rim College is a proud sponsor and supporter of community-based events.

For three years PRC was a platinum sponsor of Victoria’s Health, Wellness & Sustainability Festival produced by Wharf Street Productions. The Health, Wellness and Sustainability Festival was a yearly celebration of any and all things leading to a healthier body and mind.

For two years, PRC was a proud sponsor of Wharf Street Productions fundraising Harvest Dinner. The most recent fundraising event, held in the beautiful Atrium building, featured fantastic local, seasonal food prepared by the Island Chef Collaborative. The event raised $5,000 for the laudable Growing Chefs initiative.

For two years PRC was the title sponsor of the HANS Natural Wellness Career & Jobs Fair in Vancouver. The Fair is for anyone interested in careers or jobs in everything from nutrition to chiropractic to naturopathic medicine.

PRC proudly sponsored of the 2016 National Association of Nutrition Professionals 11th Annual Conference & Expo in Long Beach, California, entitled Changing Tides: Holistic Nutrition in Today’s Healthcare. The NANP promotes unification of the profession, educates and serves its members, and protects the holistic nutrition professional’s right to practice.

PRC is a regular supporter of Living the New Economy. LNE Global Live is your access point to creating a new economic reality. It’s a conversation and exploration of new ideas, new ways of living to create abundance, equality and sustainability.

Organizations and Initiatives

Pacific Rim College proudly supports many organizations and initiatives in many ways including financial support, exposure and in-kind services.

PRC provides financial support, exposure, supplies and volunteers to numerous humanitarian medical establishments around the world through the college’s unique Global Outreach Program. Clinical partners include Global Acupuncture Project, Acupuncture Relief Project, Healer2healer and Natural Doctors International.

PRC is a proud members of the Health Action Network Society. HANS was created to “network”—to put people (individuals, the public and private organizations) in touch with one another in the effort to maintain and enhance health from a holistic perspective. HANS members and donors are like-minded people of all backgrounds who share an interest in health as well as environmental issues that impact health.
