Acupuncture and Addiction

with Ted van Hemert , July 6-7, 2024

Workshop Information

This seminar is focused on the use of acupuncture within the complex view and treatment of addiction. We will attempt to understand addiction first through a Western contemporary lens, exploring especially a biopsychosocial, strength-based approach. With this framework, we will then broaden our understanding with an eastern philosophy and explore TCM patterns and treatment protocols and strategies. We will take a deep dive into auricular acupuncture, and learn how to compliment the powerful and commonly used 5-Needle Protocol.

Workshop Instructor

Ted has been a Registered Acupuncturist in British Columbia since 2001, and an instructor of acupuncture for more than 20 years. After completing a 4-year Masters Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, he went on to lecture extensively to the public and practice in multidisciplinary clinics, hospitals, mental health and addictions programs, and other social services.
