Building an Intimate Herbal Practice

with Marie White, Saturday, February 18, 2023

Workshop Information

Do you want to build a herbal practice centered on reproductive wellness, fertility, natural contraception, body literacy, and menstrual health for folks of all genders? Intimate herbalism includes a commitment to community care, inclusivity, and accessibility, along with an intersectional lens on what it means to be healthy and well in different bodies.

In this engaging, in-person day-long workshop, you’ll learn about common conditions that affect reproductive health. This includes:

  • Menstrual wellness
  • Fertility/infertility
  • Herbal contraception
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • UTIs and urinary health
  • Vaginal ecology

Along with diving into common conditions and the herbs and protocols that can support them, you will participate in reflection and discussion into what affects intimate health and the sexual and reproductive system. This includes:

  • Environmental pollution and exposure to toxins
  • Stress (mental, emotional, physical)
  • Ableism and healthism
  • Intersectional oppressions
  • Lack of body literacy

Medicinal herbs covered in the workshop will include ashwagandha, calendula, damiana, maca, nettle, oats, reishi mushroom, schisandra, and more.

The day-long workshop is designed in a way to engage a variety of learning styles. The teacher will share information both via speaking, storytelling, as well as provide visual aids. There will be opportunities for group sharing and co-creation for those who wish to participate in this way.

You will be invited to taste and sample herbs and herbal remedies as you learn about their benefits, which will be provided by the teacher.

The goal of the workshop is to offer you a generative introduction to building your intimate herbalism practice. This is an introductory workshop suitable for herbalists and herbal students.
