This Medicinal Plant Intensive is an opportunity for those with a keen interest in Herbal Medicine to deepen their knowledge, understanding and insight of the living medicinal plants they use as medicines. If you work closely with plants you will find this weekend a transformational process where you will gain deeper levels of understanding of the plants’ medicine – even for plants you work with, and think you know well. Amanda uses a holistic approach based on the works of Goethe. Goethe developed a unique approach to science that brings acute scientific observation together with the intuitive senses enlivened through creative process. The methodology uses a hands-on and experiential approach. The subjects covered over the weekend span a broad-spectrum including Botany, Organoleptics, Energetics, Understanding the Actions of Plants, Observational Skills, Ecology, Therapeutics, Medicine Making, Pharmacy, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology and Harvesting. Amanda has been teaching these Intensives to Herbalists for many years and they are engaging, fun and full of “aha” moments of insight.
Amanda has been a Herbalist for over thirty years. She trained in the UK and has an MSc in Herbal Medicine from the University of Wales. Amanda has a passion for teaching and connecting people to the magic of herbs. She is the owner of Black Bear Herbs in Cumberland, a Herb School and Herb Garden where she teaches classes, medicine making and gardening/ harvesting, as well as offering Apprenticeships in Herbal Medicine.
