Workshop Information
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and Histamine Intolerance (HIT) have gained considerable attention over the last decade because of the new medical insights into the mechanisms of action and system-wide associations with several other health conditions. These new findings provide critical root cause data and laboratory biomarkers that help create personalized and targeted treatment plans, and thus happier and healthier lives for those suffering.
Students will have a greater understanding of the many contributions and triggers of MCAS and HIT and how to apply holistic approaches to managing early signs and symptoms. Discussions include stress and trauma, lifestyle behaviours, medications, infections, gut dysbiosis, hormone imbalance, inflammatory foods, genetic expression, and nutritional status.
- Discuss the role of histamine and mast cells in the body
- Describe the effects of histamine intolerance vs. Mast Cell activation.
- Identify symptoms and underlying root causes; genetics, enzyme inhibitors, enzyme competitors, lifestyle, stress, physical injuries, nutritional factors, etc. that lead to histamine intolerance and MCAS.
- Explore genetic implications of histamine and methylation dysfunctions.
- Learn the role of sex hormones in MCAS and histamine intolerance
- Understand which key biomarkers are used to assess presence of MCA and histamine intolerance.
- Discuss a targeted and personalized approach to support imbalances.
- Discover the important role of diet, supplements and lifestyle.
- Learn natural anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting approach to a histamine response and support the bigger underlying picture of MCA disorders.
*PRC diploma students will receive 1 NU/WHS academic credit for this workshop.
