TCM Postpartum Care

with Marika Hall and Jennifer Apedaile, March 16-17, 2024

Workshop Information

The Golden Month- A TCM approach to caring for the Postpartum Body, Mind and Spirit.

Postpartum is a crucial time of recovery, renewal and revitalization for the life giver, their baby and family. In Chinese Medicine it is said that the postpartum period is the second golden opportunity and with proper care can allow for deep healing in the mother’s body, determining how her future years will look in terms of her overall wellbeing, especially her menopausal years.

Join Marika and Jennifer as we delve into the physiologic needs of the postpartum person and how Chinese Medicine has been used to support, nourish, heal and balance the postpartum body, mind and spirit.

You will learn:

  • The Universally recognized needs of the postpartum body, mind and spirit
  • How to assess the client and meet their specific needs
  • How to hold space for our clients
  • Foods and recipes that nourish the body, build blood and milk
  • Bodywork and Acupressure to support the integration of the birth experience and alleviate common postpartum concerns
  • How to warm the body using Moxa and warm oil to help with health blood and qi flow
  • How to create a community of support around your clients and yourself

Marika Reid Hall , R.Ac.

Growing up in the wilds of Alberta surrounded by family, community and nature, from the very beginning Marika has been in awe of the magnificence of life and fascinated by what makes it all work. This fascination and awe has taken her around the world to learn from the land, cultures, shamans, healers and many educational institutions, as well as to teach in South Korea, India, Tanzania and Canada.

It was on her first trip to Tanzania that she realized how blessed she was to have grown up and been raised by a village of people and how most of us are missing this experience being detached from the land, our bodies, birth and death. This sent her to seek out training to help people and families connect back into their bodies, their lineages, the land and Spirit.

This seeking brought her to the Holistic Doula Program which she graduated from in 2013. Since that time she has become a mother, a registered Acupuncturist and Shamanic Practitioner and works with Individuals and families as they navigate the transformative portal of pregnancy, birth and parenthood.
